LCA offers a full-day, nurturing Kindergarten program that provides a solid foundation for academic success.  Allowing students to have exposure to real literature and good stories, while learning phonics, is the best combination for learning to read and learning to love reading!  The curriculum utilized at LCA gives students the phonics skills needed to decode words as they learn to read.  Along with phonics instruction, students are guided  through literature-based units and stories from our Open Court text book series.

In Kindergarten, our students also begin to realize their ability to write their own stories through journal writing and the “Kid Writing” program our school utilizes.   Science and Social Studies units are incorporated throughout the year with a focus on combining children’s literature and hands-on activities to learn key concepts.  Our Math program, which includes fun three-dimensional  manipulatives, provides a solid foundation for students as they progress through the various topics and levels of mathematic instruction.

Above all else, we work to instill in our Kindergarten students the foundation for what it means to know and love the Lord.  Students learn about God through the lives of the major characters throughout the entire Bible using our curriculum, “Positive Action for Christ.”  Our goal is to help students know God and understand that His word can impact their lives on a daily basis. We believe that in order for students to have a strong finish, they need a strong start!  LCA works to provide that “strong start” for our Kindergarten students each day!

I have been teaching at LCA for 13 wonderful years! I am married and have 3 children and two beautiful grandchildren. My daughter currently attends Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, PA. I love to care for our horses along with our many other animals. One of our animals, Asia, was a Seeing Eye Puppy in training. She is our second Seeing Eye Puppy. I also love to vacation in Corolla, North Carolina in the summer. The best things about Kindergarten are my 8 sweet children with tons of energy. I love to see the excitement in their eyes when they start to read!

This is my 4th year co-teaching Kindergarten and my 3rd teaching Pre-Kindergarten at LCA. I was married in May 2012, and we welcomed our son into the world just this winter! Outside of school, I love to run and spend time with family and friends.
