Typical School Year
Elementary students are invited to come to school to meet their new teacher and take a look around their new classroom. This short preview provides a great opportunity for the students to help say good-bye to any nervous butterflies they may be feeling and begin to get excited about the new year ahead!
Preschool and PreK students are invited, along with their parents, to attend an hour long orientation at school the week before school begins. During this time, students enjoy time in their classroom with their teachers, while parents enjoy refreshments and meet with the school administrator. This orientation allows the students (and parents) to feel more prepared for that BIG first day of Preschool!
Back to School Night
This is a special evening for Elementary parents to meet their child’s teacher and learn more about what they will be learning this year.
Bring your smiles to school – its picture day at LCA! Also, a year book is given to each child at the end of the year as a special keepsake of the special memories they have made throughout the year.
LCA Autumn Auction & BBQ Fundraising Event
This annual fundraising event held on the 1st Saturday in November is a huge family affair! Families are invited to join us for delicious BBQ and to bid on the amazing assortment of items up for bid. A fun children’s section and musical entertainment make this a fundraising event the whole family can enjoy!
This evening program is a special night where students in Preschool through 6th grade share with us the light and joy of the Christmas season. Families fellowship together following the program as they enjoy Christmas cookies together.
LCA Christmas Shoppe
The PTF provides students with an opportunity to purchase Christmas gifts for their loved ones by doing their shopping at school! Parents love to help out with this fun-filled morning at LCA as students take part in the spirit of giving.
Re-enrollment and Open House
January is the month where current families have the opportunity to re-enroll for the following school year to secure their place before new family enrollment opens in February. We also hold our 1st Open House in January for prospective families!
Ice Cream Social
Each year, the PTF hosts an evening of fun family fellowship and ice cream. It is a SWEET way to bring some fun to the long winter months!
Dr. Seuss Week
This week is a wacky and fun week at LCA as we celebrate reading and all things “Dr. Seusss”! Each day there is a different Sesussical way to dress for school!
This is a very special day at LCA where Grandparents are invited to spend some time with their grandchildren at school. We plan a special program filled with poetry, songs and more! Following the program, Grandparents and students enjoy a time of refreshments together.
Students in 3rd-6th grade participate in taking the TerraNova3 achievement test. We plan delicious snacks for the students to enjoy and to “re-fuel” their brains everyday while they work hard on showing off their knowledge.
LCA Family Walk-a-thon
This family focused fundraising event takes place at a nearby park the last Saturday of April. Students send out letters to friends/family who might be willing to sponsor them as they “walk or run” to raise money for our school.
National Day of Prayer
This is a special day where the school unites and releases prayers and balloons into the air! It is a wonderful opportunity to join our nation in praying for our schools, our communities, our country and our world.
Spring Program & Graduation
This special evening includes a showcase of musical performances from all students in Preschool through 6th grade, as well as a special graduation ceremony for our 6th Grade students. In addition, we recognize our adorable PreK students who are “moving up” to Kindergarten.
Final Week of School Activities
For Elementary Students, each year we plan some fun-filled activities for the students to enjoy during our last week of school. In the past, some of these activities have included water day, a trip to a local park, a Spanish fiesta, celebration of summer birthdays, and our annual talent show for our students!
Dress Down Days
Special days each month are designated Dress Down Days where Elementary students do not have to wear their uniform to school and may choose to wear their favorite jeans, athletic pants or graphic t-shirt!
Twice a month, students in Preschool and Elementary have an opportunity to purchase pizza for lunch! Students and parents like this special treat! Parent volunteers are encouraged and welcome to help!
Elementary classes take 2-3 field trips per year! Our trips vary as new educational opportunities become available each year, but some of our trips include: Gettysburg, North Bay, the Aquarium, Longwood Gardens, Delaware Symphony Orchestra, Franklin Institute, the Philadelphia Zoo and much more!
Once a month, LCA has spirit days where students can sport their LCA “spirit wear” sweatshirts and t-shirts and dress in LCA’s school colors ~ white and blue!
After School Clubs
LCA offers a variety of after school clubs and activities. Some of these options include Soccer Shots, Science Explorers, as well as LCA Art Club!
