Rebecca Blevins – Preschool

Mrs. Blevins has been teaching preschool-aged children for fifteen years. She eagerly joined the L.C.A. staff three years ago. Her passion is working with young children! She sees her role as a teacher as a Kingdom call and counts it as an honor and blessing! “What an indescribable joy it is to see the world through the eyes of an innocent and curious child!”

Mrs. Blevins graduated summa cum laude from West Chester University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. Immediately following graduation, she worked with students grades K-12 in local school districts while starting a family of her own.

It is her heart’s desire to team with parents and staff to encourage children to become followers of Jesus at an early age. It is also her hope to instill in her students a love of learning! “I want my students to know that they are special, designed by God for a purpose!” As a teacher, she celebrates each child’s uniqueness.

Mrs. Blevins has been married to her high school sweetheart for twenty years and has been blessed with three amazing children! Outside of the classroom setting, she enjoys spending time with her family, sharing coffee and conversation with friends, and attending her children’s extracurricular activities. She is always up for a stroll in nature, especially along the beach!

Julie Sultzbach – Preschool

Mrs. Sultzbach has been teaching at Landenberg Christian Academy since 2011. In addition to teaching our full day Pre-Kindergarten class, she also co-teaches in our Kindergarten Program on Fridays. From an early age, she always knew she wanted to teach and have the opportunity to have a positive impact on the lives of children. Being a part of children building self-confidence, reaching their goals, and growing in Jesus are a few of the many reasons Mrs. Sultzbach loves being a teacher. Children immediately gravitate to Mrs. Sultzbach as her love for children is evident in everything she does. Her hands-on approach to teaching is exciting and motivating to the children in her class.

Mrs. Sultzbach graduated Cum Laude from Bloomsburg University with a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education and a concentration in Language Arts. In addition to her degree, she holds a PA teaching license. She and her husband, Zach, have been married for 5 years and have a 3-year-old son named Chase and a baby girl on the way. In her spare time, Mrs. Sultzbach enjoys going to the beach, running, reading, and spending time with her family.

Judy Federoff – Kindergarten

As Landenberg Christian Academy’s first Elementary School teacher, Mrs. Federoff has been teaching at LCA for 15 years. She loves observing students develop creative and inquisitive character traits as they begin their elementary years. These early years of learning are of the most important and fundamental–Mrs. Federoff counts it a privilege to have been teaching for 28 years and to be a part of children’s lives in these formative years.

In addition to her college degree, Mrs. Federoff holds numerous certifications including Effective Classroom Management, Writing Strategies, and Children’s Literature to name a few. Mrs. Federoff has enjoyed staying current and learning how to incorporate new and innovative ideas into her classroom.

Having been married for 39 years Mrs. Federoff has as three adult children and 2 beautiful grandchildren. Mrs. Federoff loves to care for her horses along with their many other animals including Asia, a “Seeing Eye Puppy” in training. She also loves to vacation in Corolla, North Carolina in the summers.

Karen Raser – 1st and 2nd Grade

Mrs. Raser has a passion for teaching that is contagious and fun. During her first 6 years at LCA, Mrs. Raser was an integral part in developing our Pre-K program. More recently, she has moved upstairs to teach our first-grade students their core subjects.of Reading, Writing and Math as well as Science, Social Studies and Bible to grades one and two. Mrs. Raser is completing her 9th year at Landenberg Christian Academy. Her innovative style of teaching is appealing to her students and provides a setting where they can feel free to be themselves and develop a love for learning.

Mrs. Raser graduated from Bloomsburg University with a dual degree in Early Childhood & Elementary Education and a specialization in reading instruction. Having taught in Maryland public schools for 7 years, Mrs. Raser has been at LCA since 2008.

Knowing one another since their childhood, Mrs. Raser and her husband have been married 19 years. They have two children, Molly, age 14, and Pierce, age 12, who both attended LCA for their Elementary years. When not at school, Mrs. Raser enjoys date nights with her husband, playing taxi mom, cheering on her kids at sporting/music events, and spontaneous dance parties!

Katie Heess – 3rd and 4th Grade

Mrs. Heess has served as a teacher at LCA for over 7 years. In addition co-teaching 3rd-6th grade Science and Social Studies over the years, Mrs. Heess has been the head teacher for our 3-year-old Preschool Program. Prior to teaching at LCA, she taught at Baltimore Highlands Elementary in Maryland and has over 15 years of teaching experience. In addition to teaching at LCA, Mrs. Heess teaches after-school clubs throughout Chester County. Mrs. Heess delights in the innocence of young children. She loves their curious spirit and eagerness to learn.

Mrs. Heess graduated from Shippensburg University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Early Childhood Education. She is currently enrolled at Grand Canyon University to continue her education.

One of Mrs. Heess’ favorite things to do is spend time with her family. She and her husband, Nate, have been married for 23 years. Their three boys all attended LCA during their elementary years. In her spare time, she enjoys working on the farm, horseback riding, taking walks and reading.

Rebecca Werner – 5th and 6th Grade

Mrs. Werner has been teaching 5th and 6th grade at Landenberg Christian Academy for 6 years. She enjoys challenging students to integrate multiple subjects in a holistic learning experience. Hand-on class projects and journaling help students make inter-disciplinary connections both inside and outside the classroom.

Mrs. Werner holds a dual degree in Elementary Education and Bible from what is now Cairn University, and she holds a Pennsylvania State license as well as an ACSI license. Additionally, she has continued her education at The Learning Institute of St. Joseph’s University, the Chester County Intermediate Unit and The Barnes Foundation. This further training has focused on engaging students in meaningful learning.

Mrs. Werner and her husband of 28 years, Andy, have provided leadership for marriage retreats and family events of members of the National Guard, where Andy served as a chaplain. She and her husband love gardening, Lancaster County shopping and long walks at Longwood Gardens.
